I was a Snorer.

Am I an insomniac or do i just have difficulty sleeping?
I am 15 and up until a few days ago I didn’t know that it isn’t normal to have difficulty sleeping. (stupid of me I know) so on average it takes me 1.5-3 hrs to fall asleep and i will often wake up multiple times during the night. however, I will occasionally have no difficulty falling and staying asleep. Is this considered insomnia or is insomnia just when you cant sleep at all?
sleep problems are fairly normal. Insomnia can be helped slightly by putting yourself on a more regular schedule and only using your bed for sleep. Try drinking less soda and caffeine in the evening hours. If that doesn’t help you could always eat a nice sized helping of turkey it has a large amount of tryptophan a chemical that is proven to help aid in drowsiness. If you are morally opposed to meat or just don’t like turkey it can also be found in many other foods. A list of these can be found on Wikipedia. If that does not help a counselor once advised me to find a soothing air plug in to only turn on during the evening hours. It is possible that the scent will eventually help program your body to be tired. You know like Pavlov’s dogs and the bell.
insomnia or not difficulty sleeping is a problem. Try searching the internet for ways to combat your sleep problem naturally and if all else fails try seeing a medical professional about a prescription medication to assist you in developing a healty sleep pattern.
Has anyone heard of a different treatment for people who suffer with sleep apnea?
Someone I work with heard about this new type of treatment that treats sleep apnea besides the CPAP that is a machine that continually keeps air flowing tthrough a mask that is worn. This new treatment, if there is such a thing is something else. This was second hand info so I’m not sure if this is right.

there is 3 reason for having apnea while u sleeping mechanical,central nerve system and both of them of course they call apnea if u drop to brading 10 to 14 secs not les than it….first of all u have see if u have over weight and smoker then u have to isit an ENT doc …he/she will take alook to ur laryngeal ,pharynx and if u have any problem with ur tonsils they could remove t out but at first they have to be sure that u really have apnea or not…

Sleep hygeine is the way to go. She needs to set up a bedtime routine. She needs to be consistant.
My routine s to watch TV in the Living room (not the bedroom) until it is close to bedtime. I might finish my favorite show like Greys Anatomy then head to the bedroom. A shower, a few minutes spreading on body lotion and face cream, then some type of daily devotional/meditaton book. I read that and turn out the lights. I spend some time in bed reflecting on the mediataion and usually fall asleep doing that. This helps to change the stress of the day into thinking about something posiive instead of thinking about the day and all the stress’s encounted and thinking about tomorrow and what it may bring. Then get up in the morning in time not to be to rushed to get to work. Have that cup of coffee while getting ready.
One of the most important things to do is find a way to relax and turn off the day at bedtime. It is also very important to get up close to the same time each day. Sleeping to noon on Sat/Sun only sets you up to have difficulty falling asleep. If you go out those nights don’t drink to much alcohol as that also interfers with sleep.
I have to get up at 5:45 am for work. I usually hit bed about 10:00 to 10:30. On my days off I usuallly get up around 8-830am. I have found this way to sleep to be very effective. It was recommened by a psychiatrist and it works.
